Outdoor Kitchens, Fireplaces and Stone Veneer

Stacked stone and tile turn a block grill island or a plain wall into the place everyone gathers. Konstantin clads outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and feature walls inside and out.

What’s included

  • Outdoor kitchen islands
  • Stacked stone walls
  • Fireplace surrounds
  • Mosaic backsplashes outdoors
  • Bar and counter fronts
  • Columns and knee walls
  • Indoor fireplace walls
  • Accent and feature walls

How it’s done

  1. Check the structure

Stone veneer is heavy, so the wall or island under it has to be ready to carry it.

  2. Mortar for outside

Exterior-rated mortar and adhesives that handle heat, rain and humidity.

  3. Stagger the joints

Stacked stone is laid so joints do not line up into one long seam.

  4. Clean the corners

Corner pieces and mitered edges so the stone wraps the island like solid stone.

Can stacked stone be installed on an outdoor kitchen island?

Yes. Stacked stone panels are one of the most common finishes on outdoor kitchens and grill islands. The island needs a solid cement board or block base, an exterior-rated mortar, and corner pieces so the outside corners look like real stone. Around a grill, follow the manufacturer's clearances for heat.

Can tile go around a fireplace?

Yes, as long as it is rated for the heat and the clearances in the fireplace instructions are kept. Porcelain, stone and stacked stone veneer are all used on fireplace walls. A linear electric fireplace like the one in the gallery runs cooler and gives more freedom in the material choice.
